Commuting in Beijing is the opposite of how I commute at home. Most of the the infrastructure in the united states revolves around cars. Mostly because everything is so spread apart except for dense cities. In Beijing, there are still many cars, but massive amounts of people utilize the very cheap, convenient subway and bus lines that web throughout the city. The best part is that most of the time, it was faster than a taxi but took a little more effort figuring out where to go. After a couple days, getting back to the school was very easy via subway. Los Angeles was chosen for the 2028 olympics, I'm hoping that because of this maybe the infrastructure of LA will back away from congested freeways and roads and instead consider moving to the underground realm in order to create subway lines that people can use reliably and safely. One of my biggest ambitions is to work on large scale projects like this to improve infrastructure in cities or populated areas.
