Kyoto
For a couple days we were in Kyoto where we had the opportunity to visit 3 gardens that showed traditional Japanese elements. Kyoto itself was a small city that had a less dense population than I thought it would. I was surprised to see that Japanese gardens and Chinese gardens have many similarities. Considering how Japan and China are tied historically, it makes a lot of sense. We spent a long time exploring these gardens and had the opportunity to do some nice sketches and take decent pictures. A couple people and I split off of the main group because we had more time since we had somewhere to stay overnight. At the last site we visited was a smaller garden with a moss ground cover and trees more densely packed than usual. There were very few people there so we decided to sleep for 2 hours. It was very relaxing and was a good end to the day.
