During our free day we decided to travel to the CCTV building. Beforehand we got a reservation at a restaurant but our wait was two hours so it gave us plenty of time to see the building. It was extremely hot as always but surrounding one of the malls at the base of the building was impressive seating areas and secluded spaces that you could use to hide yourself from the busy Beijing streets. The building itself at first sight made little sense considering the huge overhanging structure it had. However, through further inspection I noticed how they manipulated the center of gravity of the building by leaning the tower opposite the direction of the overhangs. Aside from the structure there was some interesting engraving like patterns that contradicted the horizontal and vertical elements of the entire building. Overall it was awesome seeing such immense structures up close.
