Tienanmen Square is central to Beijing and stands in front of the Forbidden city. Surrounding Tiananmen is a series of statues, museums, monuments, and more. Right after our welcoming lunch hosted by the international program at North China University of Technology (NCUT) we were taken here to see the flag drop at sunset. When we arrived we stood in line for a while and went through a small security checkpoint before entering. The lighting at the time was golden so I was able to get a decent picture of the Forbidden City's main gate. We were able to honor the national flag of China as they lowered it, surrounded by many citizens and tourists. Afterwards, they started herding the crowds out of the square using a few utility vehicles. Being tall, I luckily didn't lose the group or I would have been lost for hours, not knowing how to use any public transport.
